A man is found dead in his front yard Leonid Kaplan, a 51-year-old resident of Columbus, Ohio, was found fatally shot on January 3, 2016. The incident took place at around 7:30 p.m. in the 5800 block of Riverton Road, off McNaughten Road. Columbus Police were dispatched after receiving a report of a man lying in a front yard. Upon arrival, officers discovered Kaplan suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Kaplan lived nearby with his mother, and he was often seen jogging in the neighborhood. There were no immediate suspects, and his death remains an unsolved homicide. The Columbus Police Department, with assistance from Crime Stoppers, has continued to ask for public help in gathering information regarding the case. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest or indictment related to Kaplan’s death.
