Sandra Ann Clohecy was 42 years old when she died on Monday, June 11, 2018, in the City of Industry. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, she died after sustaining blunt force trauma near the Pomona Freeway and Fullerton Road. Her death was ruled a homicide, and it is listed as a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau case.

That Monday afternoon, the Sheriff's Industry Station received an anonymous call about a "person down" in the area, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Deputies found Sandra's body in a wash underneath the eastbound 60 Freeway at the Fullerton Road off-ramp. Two days later the coroner's office identified her. Lt. Rodney Moore said she had sustained trauma to her upper torso, and that he did not think she had been hit by a car on the freeway. Detectives investigated the death as a homicide, and Moore said no one had been arrested.

The Tribune also reported that Sandra had prior run-ins with the law. Her most recent court case showed she pleaded no contest to receiving stolen property and was sentenced on August 17, 2017, to two years and eight months. Booking records showed she was released from the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla on September 12, 2017, and she had a pending case for an alleged parole violation in April 2018. Whether any of that history had anything to do with her death has never been said publicly.

Sandra was born on October 15, 1975. Friends called her "San-d." An obituary was handled by Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes in New Castle, Delaware, which suggests that her family had roots on the East Coast, and on its tribute page one friend wrote, "Rest In Peace San-D you will always be in my memories. You were my friend." The anonymous caller who reported a "person down" has not been publicly identified.

The City of Industry stretches along the 60 Freeway in the eastern San Gabriel Valley. As its name suggests, it is made up mostly of warehouses, factories, distribution centers and business parks, and very few people live there. Its policing is handled by the Sheriff's Department. The washes and flood channels that run beneath the freeway are out of sight from passing traffic, which may explain why her body was found only after someone called it in.

Hundreds of people are killed in Los Angeles County every year, and a large share of those killings end without an arrest.

No arrest, criminal charge or court case connected to the death of Sandra Ann Clohecy could be found in news archives or public records. More than seven years later, there is no public sign that anyone has been held responsible. Anyone who knew Sandra, who saw her in the days before June 11, 2018, or who was near the Fullerton Road off-ramp of the eastbound 60 Freeway in Industry in the days around her death may hold information that could help. Even a small detail, such as a name overheard, a vehicle seen nearby or a conversation remembered, can help detectives move a case forward. Anyone with information can contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
