On April 24, 2015, the brief existence of an infant designated in county records as Baby Boy Griffin came to a tragic end in Los Angeles, California. Born that very same day, the newborn Black child died before he ever had the chance to experience life, grow up, or be given an official first name. His passing was referred to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner under case number 2015-00837.

Upon examining the infant, forensic pathologists classified the manner of death as a homicide, distinguishing it from natural complications or stillbirth. The official cause of death in public coroner indexes was cataloged under other or non-specified trauma, and further specific details regarding the newborn's fatal injuries were withheld from general distribution. Unnamed infants in coroner files are typically assigned the maternal surname along with a Baby Boy designation, indicating that the death occurred under circumstances that prompted local authorities to step in.

The city of Los Angeles and surrounding county communities saw more than six hundred homicides in 2015, a challenging period for local homicide detectives and specialized child abuse investigative units. Among the vast caseloads of gang disputes, street violence, and domestic assaults that year, cases involving infants represent the quietest and most devastating tragedies. Because newborns lack established identities, peer networks, or personal histories in the community, investigations into infant homicides depend almost entirely on physical forensics, hospital delivery records, or tips from individuals who may have known an expectant mother whose baby disappeared.

Following the initial coroner processing and investigative intake, public updates concerning Baby Boy Griffin ceased. Without public appeals revealing a specific crime scene, hospital, or street address, the broader circumstances of where the baby was found and what exact trauma he suffered remained unshared with the public. Coroner index records show that after several months without a resolution or release to private family arrangements, the infant's remains were cremated under county auspices on August 13, 2015.

More than a decade after his death, no suspects have been arrested, charged, or brought to trial in connection with the newborn's homicide. Baby Boy Griffin remains remembered only in the municipal records and the county's registry of unsolved homicides, an innocent life cut short within hours of entering the world. Anyone with knowledge regarding the pregnancy, birth, or circumstances surrounding the death of Baby Boy Griffin in April 2015 is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau, the Los Angeles Police Department, or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
