In the early hours of September 4, 2026, the life of 29-year-old Jonquail Myers was tragically cut short in a violent encounter in the parking garage of the upscale Mezzo Luxury Apartment Homes in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood. Atlanta police responded to a call of a person shot at the Peachtree Road complex at approximately 1:39 a.m. and discovered Myers with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another individual, a friend of Myers, was also injured during the incident but had not been shot and was transported to a local hospital.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, believing it to be the result of a targeted armed robbery. The management of the Mezzo Apartment Homes cooperated with law enforcement, providing crucial surveillance footage that captured a suspect vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala. This evidence proved to be the key to breaking the case open. An alert was issued for the vehicle, which was later spotted in neighboring Cobb County.
A police pursuit of the suspect vehicle ensued, culminating in the apprehension of three individuals. The suspects were identified as Brian Wingo, Charles Lewis, and Ky-Mani Goodlings. Following their arrests, they were transported to the Fulton County Jail. All three men have been charged with murder and armed robbery in connection with the death of Jonquail Myers. The swift arrests brought a sense of relief to the community, though the motive behind the robbery and the specific targeting of Myers remain subjects of the ongoing investigation. As the case moves through the legal system, further details are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances that led to this fatal encounter.
