On Monday, August 3, 2009 at approximately 7:30 pm, a neighbor's 911 call brought sheriff deputies to a home at 218 Pamlico Road near Oriental. The homeowner, Linda Lee Jackson, was found dead in her bedroom. Her body had been burned. She was 54 years-old and was last seen alive a few days prior to the discovery of her body.
