On March 8, 2010, Rayshaun Cotton, aged 29, was shot while driving on Holloway Street in Durham, North Carolina. After being struck by gunfire, his vehicle crashed into a tree. Cotton was rushed to Duke University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. His murder was one of 25 homicides that year in Durham, and despite investigations, the case remains unsolved.
