On April 17, 2010, Kareem Fowler, aged 33, was tragically shot and killed in Durham, North Carolina, shortly after celebrating his birthday. The incident occurred outside a house on Dupree Street. Investigations led to the arrest of a suspect, Brandon J. Kee, in Georgia later that year. Fowler was a father and a student at Strayer University, where he was honored posthumously with his degree. His death left a lasting impact on his family, including his two children, and the Durham community. His mother, Glenda Fowler, continues to honor his memory and advocate for non-violence in the community through her involvement with the Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham.
