In the small town of Iraan, Texas, a domestic dispute on July 14, 2026, ended in the tragic death of 47-year-old Claudia Yolanda Ortiz. The events that unfolded that Tuesday morning would lead to a murder investigation and the arrest of her husband, Miguel Luna. The Pecos County Sheriff's Office was called to a residence on the 200 block of East 7th Street after a 911 call was placed by Luna himself.
In his call to the Fort Stockton Police Department, made entirely in Spanish, Luna reported that he and his wife, Claudia Ortiz, had been arguing. He claimed the argument was about infidelity and a video that possibly showed her with another man.
According to an arrest affidavit, Luna told the 911 operator that Ortiz had locked herself in their bedroom with a gun and that he had heard a gunshot. When deputies arrived at the home, they found a locked bedroom door.
