On June 24, 2010, Kenneth Michael Leefe, 55, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Bojangles restaurant where he worked as a manager in La Grange, North Carolina. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. as Leefe was leaving work. Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the suspect fleeing the scene in a dark-colored, four-door Mazda 626. The day after the murder would have been Leefe's 56th birthday, adding to the tragedy of the event.
