David Colbert, a 49-year-old African American male from Charlotte, North Carolina, was fatally stabbed on May 8, 2013, in Gastonia. The assailant was 58-year-old Steve Todd Neely Sr., the ex-husband of Colbert's wife. The incident occurred during a dispute over the sale of Neely's home, which Colbert had expressed interest in purchasing.
