In the summer of 2026, the life of 19-year-old Issac Martin of South Euclid, Ohio, was tragically cut short in a brazen afternoon shooting. On July 16th, at approximately 1:33 p.m., Martin was outside the Noble Food Deal in Cleveland Heights when he was shot in the head. Paramedics rushed him to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal, and he died the following day. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office officially ruled his death a homicide.
The investigation into Martin's death quickly identified two suspects who, according to police, arrived at the scene in a stolen red Kia. After the shooting, they fled to East Cleveland, where the vehicle was later found abandoned and set on fire at the intersection of Holyoke and East 133rd Street. A significant break in the case came when authorities identified one of the suspects as Collin Funches. Following a 72-hour manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies, Funches was apprehended by Garfield Heights police at a gas station. He was subsequently charged with aggravated murder.
While one suspect was in custody, the search for the second individual involved in Issac Martin's murder continued. Law enforcement agencies have been actively seeking information from the public to identify and locate Funches's accomplice. Crime Stoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the second suspect. In early August, Collin Funches, aged 26, pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder and tampering with evidence. A judge set his bond at $1 million as the legal proceedings in this tragic case began to unfold. As of the latest reports, the second suspect remains at large, and the case continues to be an active investigation.
