In the summer of 2026, the community of Pulaski, Tennessee, was shaken by the violent death of one of its residents, 37-year-old Jeremy D'Juan Gardner. On the evening of Saturday, July 25th, police were dispatched to the 500 block of Culpepper Street following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Gardner suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were called to the scene and immediately began to administer life-saving measures, but their efforts were in vain. Jeremy D'Juan Gardner was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Pulaski Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division promptly took over the case, securing the area and beginning the painstaking process of gathering evidence and speaking with potential witnesses. Their investigation quickly led to the identification of a suspect, 40-year-old Cory Dwain Perry, also a resident of Pulaski. Within a short period, Perry was taken into custody by law enforcement. The investigation was led by Detective Sergeant Keith Crabtree of the Pulaski Police Department.
Cory Dwain Perry was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jeremy D'Juan Gardner. In addition to the murder charge, Perry also faced charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and committing armed dangerous felonies. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Giles County Jail, where he was held without bond. The case against Perry represented a significant step in the pursuit of justice for Gardner and his family, with the arrest bringing a sense of closure to a community grappling with the sudden and tragic loss.
