In the early morning hours of June 19, 2026, a tragic and violent event shattered the peace of a Milam County RV park. Deputies from the Milam County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene, located in the 9000 block of FM 908 near Apache Pass, around 2 a.m. following reports of a disturbance. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene with two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was 47-year-old Angie McLeod-Hardy, a resident of Texas City.
Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.
The male individual found with McLeod-Hardy was identified as 61-year-old Gary Followell Jr. of Livingston. He had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Followell later died from his injuries. The investigation into the incident led the Milam County Sheriff's Office to classify the event as a murder-suicide. Angie McLeod-Hardy was described by those who knew her as a fun-loving and outgoing person who will be deeply missed.
The investigation concluded that Followell was the perpetrator in McLeod-Hardy's death, and with his subsequent suicide, the case was considered closed. There were no other suspects, and no arrests were made in connection with the murder. The case will not proceed to trial due to the death of the sole suspect, and therefore, there will be no conviction or sentencing. The incident stands as a closed case of murder-suicide, leaving behind the senseless loss of Angie McLeod-Hardy.
