In the late hours of a spring evening in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, the life of 36-year-old Salim Basalat, a native of Guyana, came to a tragic and unexpected end. On May 26, 2026, what began as a meeting in the parking lot of a Lowe's home improvement store devolved into a fatal encounter. Basalat, a machine operator and devoted father of two daughters, was shot and sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, but ultimately succumbed to the gunshot ...
