Gary Stevenson Jr., aged 21, was tragically killed on December 15, 2016, during a shooting in northeast Charlotte. The incident stemmed from a dispute involving family members and friends. Stevenson was one of two people who died as a result of the shooting, with Raheem Shawdo Hammond being the other victim. The shooting took place on Spring Garden Lane, where Hammond died at the scene, while Stevenson was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
