In the early morning hours of March 30, 2026, the life of 43-year-old Derrick Lee Walthall of North Highlands was cut short in an act of violence in Stockton, California. The incident was reported around 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of South Commerce and West Main streets. When emergency services arrived, they found Walthall suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but tragically, his injuries proved to be fatal.
This marked the city's sixth homicide of the year.
