Her death was the result of a violent encounter with her estranged husband, Titus Scott, which occurred at her home on Oxbow Drive. The couple, who were high school sweethearts and had three children together, were in the process of separating for a second time.
In the months leading up to the fatal incident, there was a clear escalation of conflict. Myneika had reached out to law enforcement on multiple occasions due to her husband's increasingly alarming behavior. These reports detailed instances of harassment, stalking, and threats.
