In the small community of Luray, South Carolina, a verbal dispute on April 4, 2026, tragically escalated, ending the life of 28-year-old Antonio Griffin of Early Branch. The incident, which unfolded on Orchard Road, resulted in Griffin being shot multiple times. He was affectionately known as “Tone” to his friends and family.
The Hampton County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting and launched a homicide investigation.
Their efforts quickly led to the identification of a suspect. Four days after the fatal shooting, authorities announced the arrest of 20-year-old Mandrell Garvin of Hampton.
Garvin was taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. While an arrest has been made, the Hampton County Sheriff's Office has stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercation and Griffin's death remains ongoing. They have encouraged anyone with information to contact their anonymous tip line.
