In the early hours of April 15, 2026, a concerned family member's call for a welfare check led Richardson police to a tragic scene at an apartment in the 500 block of East Buckingham Road. Inside, officers discovered the bodies of three individuals, a discovery that would soon unravel a story of domestic violence culminating in a murder-suicide. The female victim was identified as 28-year-old Katherine Milena Guadron Orantes.
The Hispanic woman, along with her 6-year-old daughter, Ellery Leah Herrera Guadron, were victims of a homicide.
The investigation into the deaths quickly focused on the third individual found in the home, 30-year-old Hector Giovanni Herrera Herrera, who was Katherine's husband and Ellery's father. The Dallas County medical examiner's office determined that Herrera died by suicide. Authorities believe that Herrera shot and killed his wife and young daughter before taking his own life. A handgun was recovered from the scene.
