In the early morning hours of Friday, April 17, 2026, the quiet community of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, was shattered by a tragic event that claimed the life of 49-year-old Buffi Camille Smith. A loving mother and grandmother, Ms. Smith was fatally shot in her Montgomery Township home. Responders arrived at the residence on Montgomery Church Road around 6:36 a.m. to find her suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of the female victim quickly identified a suspect, her 51-year-old ex-husband, Larry S. Seville of Mercersburg. Authorities believe that in the pre-dawn hours, Seville forced his way into his ex-wife's home armed with a firearm. It is alleged that he then shot Buffi Smith multiple times before turning the gun on himself in an apparent suicide attempt. Seville was found at the scene with a gunshot wound and was transported to WellSpan York Hospital for medical treatment.
In the wake of the violent incident, the Franklin County District Attorney's Office approved charges against Larry S. Seville, including first-degree murder and burglary. An arrest warrant was slated to be issued for Seville upon his completion of medical treatment. The investigation was handled by the Pennsylvania State Police, with the Troop H Major Case Team and the Franklin County Coroner's Office responding to the scene.
