In the late afternoon of Monday, April 20, 2026, the city of Goshen, Indiana, was shaken by a brazen act of violence that claimed the life of Lisa Adkins, a 50-year-old woman. Just before 5 p.m., gunfire erupted near the intersection of Main and Clinton Streets. When police arrived, they discovered Adkins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the person responsible had fled before authorities arrived, setting off a chain of events that would span multiple counties.
The suspect was quickly identified as 50-year-old Aaron Holliday, Adkins' ex-husband. The couple had divorced in October of the previous year after a one-year marriage. Friends and family recalled that Adkins was working to move forward with her life, but Holliday reportedly continued to try and make contact with her. The situation tragically escalated on that Monday afternoon. In the wake of the shooting, Holliday fled the area, leading to an extensive search by law enforcement.
A couple of hours after the shooting, Indiana State Police located Holliday in Fulton County. A pursuit began, weaving through three counties as Holliday refused to pull over. The chase came to a dramatic end when a state trooper performed a PIT maneuver, causing Holliday's truck to spin off the road. As officers approached the stopped vehicle, they heard a single gunshot. They found Holliday inside, deceased from a self-inflicted wound. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating the case as a murder-suicide.
