Fanny Isabel Vila-Taylor, an 84-year-old female, was found dead on the morning of April 22, 2026, inside a residence in the 3300 block of Alturas Drive in Pueblo, Colorado, near Bandera Park in the El Camino area. What began as an emergency call to the home quickly became a homicide-suicide investigation after Pueblo police arrived shortly after 9:15 a.m. and discovered Vila-Taylor deceased at the scene.
Officers also found 81-year-old Freddie Arthur Taylor suffering from a gunshot wound.
Freddie Arthur Taylor was transported from the home to a local hospital, but he later died from his injuries. After the initial response, investigators classified the case as a murder-suicide. The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office later identified both people involved, confirming that the two were Fanny Isabel Vila-Taylor and Freddie Arthur Taylor. Local reporting identified them as husband and wife.
Police described Fanny as the apparent victim in the deadly shooting and Freddie Arthur Taylor as the apparent suspect. Because Taylor died after the shooting, there were no reported arrests, no criminal charges filed, and no trial or conviction connected to the case. Authorities did not publicly release a motive, a detailed timeline of what happened inside the home, or further information about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The case was counted as Pueblo’s sixth homicide of 2026. At the time, police noted that Pueblo had recorded four homicides by the same point the previous year. Officials said the investigation remained active, but they also indicated that no additional information would be released at that time.
