On the evening of April 26, 2026, in the city of Davison, Michigan, a domestic disturbance escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 34-year-old Carl Martell Calhoun. The male victim was discovered by police inside a residence on the 400 block of South Dayton Street with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that a dispute between Calhoun and another man, who were known to each other, had turned into a physical
confrontation. During the altercation, shots were fired, resulting in Calhoun's death. The suspect, identified as Nakia Tyrese Taylor of Detroit, a Black male, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Police have released a description of the suspect, a 51-year-old man who is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs approximately 140 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen leaving the residence in a burgundy Dodge conversion-style van with the Michigan license plate number FAB5598. Authorities have stated that Taylor should be considered armed and dangerous. As of the latest available reports, he remains at large, and the investigation into the death of Carl Martell Calhoun is ongoing.
