In a quiet trailer park in Farmington, Missouri, the afternoon of Thursday, March 26, 2026, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 61-year-old Michael D. Jenkins. Deputies from the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department and officers from the Farmington Police Department were dispatched to the Walnut Grove Trailer Park in the 3000 block of Miranda Drive around 2:26 p.m. following a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered Michael D.
Jenkins with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical first responders, he succumbed to his injuries at 3:53 p.m. The investigation into the fatal shooting quickly led to a suspect who was present at the scene.
William C. Meador, a 23-year-old man, was taken into custody without incident in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently booked into the St. Francois County Jail. Authorities have announced that Meador is facing charges of Second-Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action.
Investigators with the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department have indicated that they believe the shooting was an isolated incident. They have stated that both Jenkins and Meador were residents of the same home and that there was no broader threat to the community.
