In the early hours of a Saturday morning in Chicago, the life of 17-year-old Autumn Love Martinez was tragically cut short. On March 28, 2026, Martinez was walking in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side when a red sedan approached. An unidentified individual from within the vehicle opened fire, striking the teenager multiple times in a brazen drive-by shooting. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m.
in the 2400 block of West 48th Street.
First responders arrived at the scene to find Martinez in critical condition. Paramedics provided immediate medical attention before rushing the teen to Mount Sinai Hospital.
