On the evening of Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the life of 25-year-old Damien Michael Williams was tragically cut short in a residence on School Street NW in Warren, Ohio. Police were dispatched to the home at 7:56 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered Williams inside, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Williams to Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The incident marked the third homicide in the city of Warren that year. Williams, known to his loved ones as "Day Day" and "Dame," was a caregiver at Moonlight Home Healthcare. He was born in Warren on October 26, 2000.
In a swift turn of events, a suspect was identified and taken into custody at the scene. Serroyan Jubar Couto, 19, was arrested in connection with Williams' death. Couto was subsequently charged with aggravated murder. During his arraignment in Warren Municipal Court, the judge ordered him to be held without bond, citing him as a potential risk to the community.
Following the initial hearing, Couto was indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury. His charge of aggravated murder included a three-year gun specification, with the indictment alleging that the killing was premeditated. At his arraignment in the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, a bond was set at $5 million. Couto, listed as homeless, remained in custody at the Trumbull County jail.
