In the late hours of Saturday, April 4, 2026, the quiet of a San Jacinto neighborhood was shattered by gunfire. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 11:40 p.m., Riverside County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the 45000 block of Castile Canyon Road to a grim scene. There they discovered 27-year-old Frankie Edward Ortega Jr., a resident of San Jacinto, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, Ortega was pronounced deceased at the scene.
