In the quiet Cypress, Texas community of Fairwood, the night of April 10, 2026, was shattered by an act of brutal violence that claimed the life of 44-year-old Tynice Friday. The tragedy unfolded at her home on Cypress Falls Drive, where she was living with her two children, aged 6 and 18. Friday had recently filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Keith Washington, and had expressed fear for her safety due to his increasingly erratic behavior.
The evening's horrific events began
to unfold around 10 p.m. when Washington arrived at Friday's residence in a silver truck. He allegedly opened fire on the home from his vehicle, shooting through the living room window. He then forced his way inside the house and shot his estranged wife multiple times. The couple's son heroically called 911 to report that his father had shot his mother. Despite her son's attempts to help her, Friday succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Fortunately, neither of the children was physically harmed during the attack.
After fleeing the scene in his truck, Washington led police on a multi-agency manhunt. When deputies located him, he refused to surrender and fired his weapon at the officers from inside his vehicle. The chase ended when Washington was cornered on a dead-end road, leading to a several-hour standoff with a SWAT team. Ultimately, Washington surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody without further incident. He was later evaluated by EMS before being interviewed by homicide detectives. Keith Washington has been charged with the murder of his wife and was booked into the Harris County Jail.
