In the spring of 2026, the life of 31-year-old Ciarra Howcott of Hopkins, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On Monday, April 13th, her body was discovered in a Columbia neighborhood. The initial discovery was deemed a suspicious death by the Columbia Police Department.
The investigation led officers to the 2700 block of Howell Court, near Farrow Road and the Prisma Health Richland medical complex, where they found Ms. Howcott.
Following a thorough investigation, the case was officially classified as a homicide. The Richland County Coroner's Office confirmed that Ciarra Howcott died from a gunshot wound to her upper body.
As investigators canvassed the area for witnesses and further evidence, the community was asked for assistance in bringing clarity to the circumstances surrounding her death. Within days, a significant development occurred in the case. On Wednesday, police arrested 19-year-old Lee'Sean Emmanuel Davis. He has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. At the time of his arrest, he also faced charges of resisting arrest and failure to stop.
While an arrest has been made, the investigation remains active. Authorities have not yet released information regarding a possible motive for the shooting or whether Howcott and Davis knew each other prior to the incident. The Columbia Police Department has expressed their condolences to Ciarra Howcott's family and reiterated their commitment to seeking justice in the case.
