In a tragic and calculated act of violence, 26-year-old Alexis Diaz-Vasquez was shot and killed on March 18, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, over a dispute involving counterfeit money. The series of events that led to his death began when he was lured to a trailer park on North Fulton Avenue under the pretense of a debt being repaid.
The suspect, 20-year-old Wiyler Nywlfry Calbrera Abreu, had arranged to meet Diaz-Vasquez to settle a significant financial obligation.
However, instead of using genuine currency, Abreu attempted to pay the debt with a large sum of counterfeit movie prop money. When Diaz-Vasquez recognized the bills as fakes, a heated argument broke out between the two men. The confrontation escalated, culminating in Abreu fatally shooting Diaz-Vasquez. The victim was later discovered in the driveway with a gunshot wound to his head.
Following the discovery of the body, the Tulsa Police Department launched an investigation that quickly led them to Calbrera Abreu. Utilizing FLOCK camera technology, authorities were able to track the suspect's vehicle to the vicinity of 51st and Memorial, where he was subsequently arrested. During questioning by detectives, Abreu admitted to being present at the scene of the crime and to shooting Diaz-Vasquez.
Wiyler Nywlfry Calbrera Abreu was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a complaint of first-degree murder. In addition to the murder charge, he is also being held on an immigration detainer, adding another layer to the legal proceedings. The case has drawn considerable attention due to the cold-blooded nature of the crime and the unusual element of the counterfeit currency.
