Sedell Barrios, a 19-year-old Black male from Harker Heights, was rushed to Seton Hospital in the dark hours of Sunday morning, March 22, 2026, after gunfire tore through what should have been an ordinary stretch of roadway. Police said officers were called to the hospital around 5:00 a.m. after two shooting victims arrived at the emergency room. Barrios was listed in critical condition and died soon after he got there.
A second 19-year-old man from Killeen survived long enough to be treated first at Seton before being transferred to Baylor Scott & White for additional care. In the first rush of the investigation, detectives said the shooting appeared to have happened along the eastbound lanes of Interstate Highway 14, turning an early Sunday drive into a deadly scene that ended at the hospital doors instead of at the roadside.
