In the late afternoon of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a south Fort Worth apartment complex, leaving an 18-year-old male, Trevelle Boyer, fatally wounded. Fort Worth police were dispatched to the Mirabel Apartments in the 6300 block of Woodway Drive shortly before 4 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Boyer inside one of the apartments with a gunshot wound.
He was in critical condition and immediately rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Trevelle Boyer succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office later confirmed his identity and officially ruled his death a homicide.
At the scene of the shooting, police took a suspect into custody. The individual was identified as Scott Jones, a resident of Fort Worth. Following his arrest, Jones was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently booked into the Tarrant County Jail, where he is being held on a $100,000 bond while the investigation continues.
Authorities have not yet released a suspected motive for the shooting that ended the young man's life. Investigators are actively working on the case to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter inside the apartment. As prosecutors review the case, the legal proceedings against Scott Jones are expected to move through the Tarrant County courts.
