In the early morning hours of March 5, 2026, a domestic disturbance in a Greenville, Indiana, home escalated into a tragedy that claimed the lives of two men. Kelly Goode, 55, and Bradley Butler, 53, were fatally shot inside a residence on the 6700 block of Georgetown-Greenville Road. First responders, arriving at approximately 5:45 a.m., found both men unresponsive with gunshot wounds and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly led to
the arrest of 23-year-old Easton Goode, who was taken into custody by the Floyd County Sheriff's Office. Easton Goode is the son of Kelly Goode and the stepson of Bradley Butler. He has since been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of criminal recklessness by shooting a firearm into an inhabited dwelling.
According to court documents, the events of that morning began to unfold around 4:45 a.m. Easton Goode’s mother found him intoxicated and vomiting in his room. A physical altercation occurred between Easton Goode and his stepfather, Bradley Butler, which reportedly ended with an apology. However, the situation later deteriorated. After his mother found him naked and covered in feces, she called her former husband and Easton's father, Kelly Goode, for assistance.
When Kelly Goode arrived at the residence, his son was allegedly armed with a. 40-caliber handgun. It is reported that Easton Goode first shot his father, who fell to the floor immediately. He then allegedly turned the gun on his stepfather, Bradley Butler, who was sitting on a couch, and shot him as well. Following the shooting, authorities were called, and Easton Goode was later apprehended at the scene. He reportedly admitted to the shootings. Court records indicate that Easton Goode has pleaded not guilty, and his defense intends to pursue an insanity defense.
