On the evening of May 6, 1974, Roberta Kathleen Parks, a 20-year-old female student at Oregon State University in Corvallis, left her dormitory with the intention of joining friends for coffee. She was never seen alive again. Known as Kathy to her friends and family, she had been walking from her residence, Sackett Hall, towards the Memorial Union on campus shortly before 11:00 p.m. when she vanished.
