The area was pierced by the sound of gunfire, triggering multiple ShotSpotter activations which prompted a swift response from the San Pablo Police Department.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered a man, later identified as Antionne Deshawn Jacob Alexander, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, San Pablo Police detectives launched an investigation into the homicide. To preserve the integrity of the crime scene and allow investigators to process evidence, both directions of San Pablo Avenue between Lake Street and Rivers Street were temporarily closed to traffic.
