In the late hours of a Friday night in an Alabama community, a dispute in a convenience store parking lot turned fatal, ending the life of 42-year-old Joel Austin Whitus. A White male, Whitus was a resident of Deatsville. The incident occurred on February 13, 2026, at a Marathon gas station, locally known as the Girls Store, in the Slapout area of Holtville.
