On the evening of February 14, 2026, Fernando Gallardo, a 44-year-old man, was fatally shot inside his northwest Houston smoke shop, Daze Elevated. An employee, driving by the shop on North Houston Rosslyn Road after business hours, noticed the "open" sign was still illuminated and Gallardo's vehicle was missing, prompting them to check inside where they discovered his body.
Investigators determined that Gallardo had been the victim of an attempted robbery.
Surveillance footage from the area captured a person of interest, and Gallardo's missing vehicle was later located by police. A felony stop was conducted on the vehicle, and the driver, who matched the description of the person seen in the surveillance video, was taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Adan Gracia. He was subsequently arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of Fernando Gallardo. According to reports, Gracia is accused of shooting and killing Gallardo during the commission of a robbery. Gracia was scheduled to appear in court on February 16, 2026.
Fernando Gallardo was remembered by his family as a loving and generous man. He was an entrepreneur and a talented barber who built strong relationships with his clients. He was also known for his dedication to the community, often hosting and participating in events that provided free back-to-school haircuts for children. A memorial gathering and a celebration of life were planned for Monday, February 23, 2026, to honor his memory.
