On the afternoon of January 22, 2026, a disturbance was reported near Normal Avenue and Mayfair Drive in Fresno, California. Responding officers arrived at the scene around 2:11 p.m. to find a woman, 25-year-old Tamika Hoy, face down in an alleyway with severe head trauma. She was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center for medical attention. Despite life-saving efforts, Tamika succumbed to her injuries and passed away on January 25, 2026.
Detectives investigating the case revealed
that Hoy had been shot. They believe she was walking through the alley when she was approached by an unknown number of individuals. It is thought that a disturbance involving multiple people occurred just before the shooting. According to her family, it was not unusual for Tamika to walk that route from her parents' home to a favorite eatery near McKinley and Normal Avenues. She had made the trip many times and always returned home safely.
As of now, the Fresno Police Department is investigating the death of Tamika Hoy as a homicide. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
