In the quiet community of Harwood, Maryland, a welfare check on January 22, 2026, led to a grim discovery at a residence on the 100 block of Harwood Road. Concerns had been raised by someone who had not seen or heard from the occupants for several days. Responding to the call at approximately 1:40 p.m., Anne Arundel County police officers entered the home to find a scene of violence.
On the main level of the house, they discovered the body of 78-year-old Sharon Ann Waldow, a female.
She had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. As officers continued to search the residence, they found a second deceased individual on the lower level, identified as 62-year-old Mark Edward Waldow, who had also been shot. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department's Homicide Unit were called in to lead the investigation into the two deaths. The bodies of both Sharon and Mark Waldow were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsies to officially determine the cause and manner of their deaths.
Authorities have described the incident as being domestic-related and have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
