In the quiet town of Princess Anne, Maryland, the afternoon of January 26, 2026, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 46-year-old Derrick Knox. Around 2 p.m., law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting on Dryden Lane. Upon arrival, they discovered Knox and another man, Kevin Pillar, inside a Kia Seltos SUV, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced Derrick Knox dead at the scene.
An autopsy later confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. Pillar, who was 41 years old, was critically injured and airlifted to a shock trauma center for medical treatment. The investigation into the double shooting was quickly initiated by the Somerset County Sheriff's Office, who soon requested the assistance of the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit.
Within a day of the fatal shooting, authorities made two arrests. A 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, both from Salisbury, were taken into custody. They have since been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, robbery, and other related offenses. Despite the arrests, investigators believe that other individuals may have been involved in the incident and have urged the public to come forward with any information. A reward of up to $1,000 has been offered for tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of anyone else connected to the case.
