On the evening of New Year's Eve 2025, a domestic dispute on a floating pedestrian bridge at Lake Como Park in Fort Worth, Texas, escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 35-year-old Delante Ticorian Washington. Washington was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:26 p.m. His long-term girlfriend, 29-year-old Alisha Monique Browley, was immediately detained by responding officers and has since been charged with his murder.
According to police
records, Washington and Browley, who had been in a relationship for approximately four years, were walking across the bridge to get food when an argument broke out between them. Browley alleged to investigators that during the altercation, Washington struck her in the face, causing her nose to bleed, and took her phone. Following this, she reportedly asked a man who was fishing nearby to call 911, but he declined to get involved.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud argument before the shooting. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, in the moments leading up to the shooting, Washington and Browley were standing on opposite ends of a sitting area on the bridge. Witnesses stated that Washington was standing quietly when Browley allegedly pulled a pistol from her purse, disengaged the safety, and fired several shots at him. After the shooting, Browley asked another person, a jogger who was passing by, to call 911.
Upon their arrival, Fort Worth police officers found Washington with multiple gunshot wounds. Browley was taken to a hospital for injuries she sustained during the initial altercation before being taken into custody. Investigators noted that while Washington had allegedly struck Browley, there were several minutes between the physical altercation and the shooting, and he was not posing an "imminent harm" to her at the time she fired the weapon. A warrant for Browley's arrest was issued on January 1, 2026, and she is currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a murder charge.
