In the North Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, a community was shaken by the violent death of 17-year-old Daniel Ramirez, a Latino male, on the evening of January 5, 2026. The fatal incident unfolded at approximately 8:15 p.m. in the 8700 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard, near Parthenia Street, a busy commercial area. Ramirez was standing in front of a pawn shop when a car carrying two individuals pulled up.
The occupants opened fire, striking the teenager in what authorities believe was a gang-related attack.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a call of shots fired and discovered the wounded teenager at the scene. Paramedics quickly arrived and transported Ramirez to Northridge Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. The initial investigation by the LAPD revealed that two separate shootings involving several juvenile males had occurred in the vicinity, culminating in the fatal wounding of Ramirez.
