In the city of Lubbock, Texas, the life of 19-year-old Taylor Marie Wilson was tragically cut short on the night of January 9, 2026. Born and raised in Lubbock, Taylor was known by her family and friends as a vibrant and kind-hearted young woman with an infectious laugh. She was a dedicated student and had been active in cheerleading and soccer during her school years, embodying a spirit of teamwork and camaraderie.
On that Friday evening, Lubbock Police responded to a call of shots
fired in the 7000 block of 21st Street at approximately 10:40 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Taylor Wilson with a gunshot wound. She was quickly transported to University Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was later pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit suggests a heartbreaking accident. It is believed that an individual who was with Wilson at the time was in the process of disassembling a firearm when it discharged, striking her. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
