Late in the evening on Thursday, December 11, 2025, a violent incident occurred in the Green Meadows neighborhood of South Los Angeles, resulting in the untimely death of Christine Victoria Vane Johnson, a 34-year-old Black female. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call reporting shots fired at approximately 10:31 p.m. near the intersection of Avalon Boulevard and 113th Street.
Upon their arrival, first responders discovered the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate attendance of Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the events leading up to the shooting involved a heated altercation between Johnson and two unidentified men. According to witness accounts and police reports, the argument escalated quickly when one of the men drew a firearm and discharged it, striking Johnson. A witness suggested she may have sustained a wound to the head, though official reports primarily cited multiple gunshot wounds as the cause of death. Following the shooting, both suspects, described only as men between the ages of 30 and 40, fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
