Rene Betancourt, an 18-year-old male from Scottdale, Georgia, tragically lost his life on November 28, 2018. The incident occurred at the Oak Forest Apartments on Hatton Drive in Scottdale. Betancourt, who had recently graduated from high school, was described by friends as a good person. On the day of his death, Betancourt was involved in an argument over a stolen cellphone. He was shot in the face and subsequently rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
