On December 12, 2025, authorities in Downey, California, launched a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of a man at a private residence. A neighbor, Reina Burks, reported hearing three or four gunshots while she was watching television in her bedroom. She stated that she did not hear any vehicles speeding away or footsteps indicating someone running from the scene immediately after the shots were fired.
