On the evening of Sunday, December 21, 2025, a violent incident occurred in the East Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, that claimed the life of an 18-year-old male named Aden Ramirez. Around 7:40 p.m., gunfire erupted on the 3800 block of West End Avenue. Following the shooting, Ramirez managed to transport himself to Loretto Hospital on the West Side.
He entered the medical facility barely able to walk, suffering from a severe gunshot wound to the chest.
Medical staff at Loretto Hospital immediately attended to Ramirez, attempting to treat the critical injuries he had sustained. Despite their best efforts to save him, the damage proved too extensive. He was pronounced dead approximately 30 minutes after his arrival, marking a tragic end to the night for the Portage Park resident. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently identified him and began the process of determining the official cause of death, while his sudden passing left his community and family in a state of shock and mourning.
As of the days immediately following the shooting, Area Four detectives from the Chicago Police Department had taken charge of the investigation. Authorities reported that no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide, and no suspects were in custody. Police had not yet released a description of any potential shooters or established a clear motive for the attack. Investigators continued to piece together the events leading up to the gunfire and urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving the case.
