Death by Force

On December 10, 2010, Lamont Smith, a 33-year-old man, was fatally shot in Oakland, California. The shooting occurred shortly before 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of 65th Avenue and International Boulevard. Officers who arrived on the scene found Smith suffering from gunshot wounds, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead. This tragic incident added to Oakland’s already high homicide rate that year, which reached a total of 94 murders in 2010.
