In a tragic turn of events that shattered a family, Montique Jenkins, a 48-year-old female, was killed on November 1, 2025, in her home on Arnold Street in Pooler, Georgia. Her life was cut short by at least one gunshot wound in what authorities have described as a domestic violence situation.
Just two months prior to the fatal shooting, Jenkins had filed for divorce from her husband, citing infidelity.
The couple, who shared the same last name and were the same age, had multiple children together. Family members have indicated on social media that the shooting was the culmination of ongoing domestic issues.
On the afternoon of the incident, Pooler police responded to a report of a shooting at the Arnold Street residence around 3:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Montique Jenkins had been fatally shot. A manhunt for the suspect ensued, and a description of the suspect's vehicle, a Ford F-150, was broadcasted.
The suspect, identified as Montique's husband, Christopher Lashawn Jenkins, also 48, was apprehended in neighboring Effingham County. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged with a litany of offenses, including felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Records reveal that Christopher Jenkins is a convicted felon, with a prior conviction for a killing that occurred in 1999. In addition to the charges related to his wife's death, he was also indicted for pointing the same shotgun at another female family member in the home on the night of the murder. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Chatham County Detention Center. The case is set to proceed in Superior Court.
