On the night of November 1, 2025, a tragic event unfolded on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 59 South in Livingston, Texas, leading to the death of 8-year-old Cesar Ulyses Enriquez of Lufkin. The Livingston Police Department had been alerted by officials in Lufkin to be on the lookout for a vehicle carrying a woman who had expressed suicidal intentions and was accompanied by a young boy.
At approximately 10:47 p.m., officers discovered one of the described vehicles parked in the 800 block
of the highway. Inside, they found young Cesar and 27-year-old Adelia Garcia Torres, also of Lufkin. Both were tragically confirmed to be deceased at the scene, each suffering from what appeared to be a single gunshot wound.
Investigators, including the Livingston Police Department, the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Lufkin Police Department, and Texas Rangers, processed the scene. Evidence collected and information provided by the Lufkin PD led authorities to determine the incident was a murder-suicide, and they assured the public that there was no ongoing threat.
Cesar, born July 5, 2017, was remembered as a bright and adventurous boy with a joyful spirit whose smile could light up any room. He attended Pineywoods Community Academy and was known for his friendly and outgoing nature. He loved the outdoors, fishing, swimming, and playing soccer. A playful child, he also enjoyed playing with toy soldiers and his pet lizards. His family, including his father and grandparents, will remember him as a source of endless joy and laughter.
